Ezekiel 12:11

What does Ezekiel 12:11 mean?
Ezekiel was living among the Jewish people who had already been taken captive to Babylon, and God asked him to act out their coming exile through symbolic gestures, packing his belongings as if fleeing and digging through a wall at night. This verse is God explaining what those strange actions meant: Ezekiel himself, and everything he was doing, served as a living sign or warning to the people that their fate was sealed. What he was physically demonstrating, they would experience for real. The hardness of this message sits in the fact that sometimes people won't listen to words alone, so God gave them something they could see and remember. It's a sobering reminder that our choices and rejection of God's guidance have real consequences, though even in exile, God's people were never truly abandoned.
