Exodus 7:4
“But Pharaoh will not listen to you, and I will lay my hand on Egypt, and bring out my armies, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.”
What does Exodus 7:4 mean?
God is telling Moses upfront that this won't be easy, and that's actually honest mercy. Rather than letting Moses waste energy trying to convince Pharaoh through persuasion alone, God reveals the real situation: Pharaoh's heart is already closed, so God will have to act with unmistakable power. The "great judgments" refer to the plagues that follow, each one designed to show that God's authority surpasses Pharaoh's and that no Egyptian god can stand against Him. This isn't arbitrary punishment but a way of breaking through stubborn resistance so His people can actually go free.
