What does Exodus 5:6 mean?
Pharaoh is about to give an order that will make life much harder for the Israelites. This verse marks a turning point, where Moses and Aaron have just asked permission for the people to leave Egypt, and Pharaoh's response is to tighten his grip rather than let go. The taskmasters and officers were the officials who oversaw the Israelites' forced labor, so this command flows down through a chain of authority meant to control and oppress. It's a reminder that when we resist what God is calling us to do, the consequences often ripple out and affect others around us, not just ourselves.
