Exodus 38:5
“He cast four rings for the four ends of brass grating, to be places for the poles.”
What does Exodus 38:5 mean?
The altar in the tabernacle needed to be portable so the Israelites could carry it with them during their wilderness journey. To make this possible, brass rings were attached to the grating at each corner, and wooden poles would slide through these rings to allow priests and Levites to lift and transport it safely. This practical detail shows how the ancient worship space was designed for a mobile community that hadn't yet settled in one place.
