What does Exodus 38:25 mean?

After the Israelites completed the tabernacle, Moses took a careful accounting of all the silver that had been contributed. This verse records the staggering total: about 100 talents plus 1,775 shekels, measured by the official sanctuary standard. To put this in perspective, a talent was roughly 75 pounds, so we're talking about thousands of pounds of silver given freely by the people for God's dwelling place. The precision of this accounting shows both the generosity of ordinary people and how seriously the community took the work of building space for worship, even when resources were scarce in the wilderness.
