“The sockets for the pillars were of brass. The hooks of the pillars and their fillets were of silver; and the overlaying of their capitals, of silver; and all the pillars of the court were filleted with silver.”
What does Exodus 38:17 mean?
This verse describes the materials used in constructing the courtyard fence that surrounded the tabernacle, God's portable tent sanctuary. The bronze sockets anchored the wooden pillars firmly in the ground, while silver hooks and decorative bands (called fillets) adorned the tops and connected sections. The silver overlays and connections created a unified, beautiful structure that reflected the care and craftsmanship devoted to God's dwelling place.
