What does Exodus 34:33 mean?
After delivering God's words to the Israelites, Moses covered his face with a veil—a detail that might seem small but carries real weight. His face was literally glowing from being in God's presence, which was so striking that it frightened the people. By veiling himself, Moses made the people more comfortable and able to listen without being overwhelmed by that supernatural radiance. Paul later uses this image to explore something deeper: how the old covenant's glory was temporary and fading, while the new covenant in Christ is permanent and increasingly glorious. But even in Exodus itself, the veil shows us something tender about Moses' character. He's willing to make himself less imposing so others can receive what God wants to tell them. Sometimes being a faithful messenger means stepping back and making space for others to hear clearly.
