What does Exodus 32:31 mean?
Moses has just come down from Mount Sinai to find the Israelites worshipping a golden calf they've built while he was receiving God's laws. Instead of defending himself or blaming the people harshly, Moses goes back to God and confesses their sin with genuine sorrow, taking their failure seriously. He recognizes that they've turned away from the true God toward something shiny and temporary, something they made with their own hands. In this moment, Moses shows us what honest repentance looks like: acknowledging the wrong clearly, without minimizing it or making excuses.
