Exodus 28:29
“Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment on his heart, when he goes in to the holy place, for a memorial before Yahweh continually.”
What does Exodus 28:29 mean?
Aaron, as high priest, wore a special breastplate with twelve stones engraved with the names of Israel's twelve tribes. This verse describes how those names stayed literally close to his heart whenever he entered God's presence to intercede for the people. It's a beautiful image of how the priest carried the whole community with him into sacred space, never letting them be forgotten before God.
