What does Exodus 28:13 mean?

This verse is part of God's detailed instructions for creating the priest's breastpiece, a sacred garment worn by Aaron. The "settings of gold" were decorative frames that would hold twelve precious stones, each engraved with the name of one of Israel's tribes. Gold, the most precious metal known to ancient Israel, signified that this was holy work meant to honor God and represent His people with utmost care. The instruction shows that when we approach God or represent Him to others, worthiness and thoughtfulness matter, even in the smallest details.
