Exodus 27:6
βYou shall make poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with brass.β
What does Exodus 27:6 mean?
The altar in Israel's tent of worship needed to be portable, so God commanded that poles be made to carry it. These poles were crafted from acacia wood, a durable desert tree, and covered with brass (bronze) to protect them from wear and fire. The covering also made the altar more visually unified and showed that even the hidden, functional parts of God's dwelling place mattered. This detail reminds us that God cares about both the visible beauty of worship and the practical, sturdy foundations that make it possible.
