What does Exodus 25:28 mean?

The poles mentioned here were part of the ancient tabernacle's table of showbread, used by the Israelites during their wilderness journey. Since the tabernacle was a tent that moved from place to place, everything had to be portable, so God specified exactly how each piece of sacred furniture should be constructed and carried. The instruction to overlay the wooden poles with gold shows something beautiful about how the Israelites approached their worship. Even the practical, functional parts that most people would never see during a ceremony were made with care and precious materials, reflecting their reverence for God's presence. It's a reminder that honoring God isn't just about what appears impressive on the surface, but about giving our best effort to every detail, including the things done behind the scenes.
