Exodus 25:24
“You shall overlay it with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it.”
What does Exodus 25:24 mean?
God is instructing Moses on how to build the table of showbread for the tabernacle, and this verse describes covering it completely with pure gold and adding a decorative gold border. Gold was the most precious metal available, so using it this way showed that everything in God's dwelling place was to be treated as sacred and valuable. The instruction reflects a principle running through the tabernacle's design: what belongs to God and what facilitates worship deserves our very best, not our leftovers.
