Exodus 2:25
“God saw the children of Israel, and God was concerned about them.”
What does Exodus 2:25 mean?
In this moment, the Israelites are enslaved in Egypt, suffering under crushing labor with no relief in sight. Moses hasn't yet been called to lead them out, and from a human perspective, their prayers might feel unanswered. Yet this verse tells us that God's awareness of their pain is real and active, not distant or indifferent. The word "concerned" here carries the sense of God knowing them intimately and being moved by their condition, not just noticing it from afar. It's a pivotal reassurance that even when deliverance hasn't come yet, God sees exactly what you're enduring and it matters to him deeply. This verse comes just before God calls Moses, reminding us that God's seeing often precedes his acting, and his care for us is the foundation of everything he does on our behalf.
