Exodus 2:23
“In the course of those many days, the king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.”
What does Exodus 2:23 mean?
After years of slavery under harsh conditions, the Israelites' suffering had become so deep that their cries rose up as a prayer, reaching God himself. The death of their oppressive king might have given them a moment of hope, but their bondage continued unchanged, and their despair grew louder.
