What does Exodus 18:5 mean?

After Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, his wife Zipporah and their sons had stayed behind with her father Jethro for safety during the chaos of the exodus. Now Jethro brings them to reunite with Moses at Mount Sinai, where the people are camped and receiving God's law. This moment marks the beginning of a significant encounter, because Jethro isn't just delivering a family reunion, he's about to offer Moses some wisdom that will reshape how he leads. Sometimes the people who know us best, even those from outside our community of faith, can see clearly what we're struggling with and offer help we didn't know we needed.
