Exodus 16:35
“The children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.”
What does Exodus 16:35 mean?
After the Israelites escaped slavery in Egypt, they spent forty years wandering in the desert, and God sustained them with manna, a miraculous bread-like food that appeared each morning on the ground. This verse marks the end of that extraordinary season, when they finally reached the fertile land God had promised them and no longer needed the daily provision of manna. It's a powerful reminder that God doesn't abandon His people in their wilderness seasons, but provides exactly what they need for exactly as long as they need it. When the purpose of that season ended and they entered new territory, the provision changed because their circumstances had changed.
