Exodus 13:3
“Moses said to the people, “Remember this day, in which you came out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand Yahweh brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.”
What does Exodus 13:3 mean?
Moses is reminding the Israelites to never forget the day God freed them from slavery in Egypt, because remembering it will keep their faith alive and their hearts grateful. The instruction about not eating leavened bread wasn't random: it was a tangible way to mark this freedom, to pause and think about what God had done for them rather than rushing through life with business as usual. When we're in hard seasons, this verse reminds us that God's acts of deliverance are meant to be remembered and celebrated, not filed away and forgotten. Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is pause and say, "I won't forget what God has done for me," because that remembering becomes its own kind of strength.
