What does Exodus 12:39 mean?
The Israelites left Egypt in such sudden, urgent haste that they didn't have time for bread to rise. They grabbed their dough and baked it flat and unleavened, capturing in that simple food the reality of their escape—hurried, unplanned, almost chaotic. This moment became so significant that it was memorialized in Passover tradition, where unleavened bread (matzah) reminds each generation of what it means to flee oppression and trust God with your life, even when you have no time to prepare.
