What does Exodus 10:11 mean?
Pharaoh had been refusing to let the Israelites leave Egypt, but after the plague of locusts devastated the land, he finally relented—though only partially. He told Moses that the men could go worship God, but the women and children had to stay behind as hostages, a way of ensuring the people would return. Moses refused this compromise because the whole community needed to worship together, not just the men. Pharaoh's grudging permission, full of conditions and control, shows how hard human hearts can resist what God wants to do. Sometimes we encounter resistance not because we're wrong, but because letting go of control feels too costly to those holding the power.
