What does Esther 9:20 mean?
After the Jewish people were miraculously saved from Haman's plot to destroy them, Mordecai wanted to make sure this deliverance was remembered. He wrote letters to Jews throughout the Persian empire, reaching both those living close to the capital and those scattered in distant provinces, inviting them to commemorate what God had done. This was the beginning of what became Purim, a festival celebrating survival and God's hidden but faithful protection. Mordecai's choice to communicate far and wide shows how important it was to him that no Jewish community would forget this story, and that everyone could share in honoring their rescue together.
