Esther 9:17
“This was done on the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of that month they rested and made it a day of feasting and gladness.”
What does Esther 9:17 mean?
The Jewish people had just defended themselves against those who wanted to destroy them, and after the danger passed, they took time to rest and celebrate together. Rather than letting fear and trauma consume them, they gathered for feasting and joy, marking the turning point from terror to safety. This reflects a deeply human need to acknowledge both survival and community after going through something frightening.
