What does Esther 8:3 mean?
Esther is making an urgent, personal plea to the king after her identity as a Jewish woman has been revealed. She's moved beyond formal protocol here, literally throwing herself at his feet and weeping, because the danger to her people is real and immediate. Haman's plot threatens genocide, so she's not asking for something small or negotiable, but for the king to actively undo the irreversible decree that would allow Jews throughout the empire to be killed.
