“For if you remain silent now, then relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Who knows if you haven’t come to the kingdom for such a time as this?””
What does Esther 4:14 mean?
Mordecai is speaking to his adopted daughter Esther, who has become queen of Persia, urging her to use her position to save the Jewish people from an enemy's plot to destroy them. He's essentially telling her that silence isn't safety, that God's purposes will be fulfilled one way or another, but that her refusal to act will cost her everything. The final question, "who knows if you haven't come to the kingdom for such a time as this," gently suggests that perhaps her entire path to becoming queen was meant to lead to this moment of courage.
