What does Esther 2:13 mean?
Each young woman chosen for King Ahasuerus went through a full year of beauty treatments before meeting him, and by the time she entered his presence, she was allowed to take whatever she wanted from the palace supplies to enhance her appearance. This detail shows how thoroughly the king's court prepared these women and how much resources were devoted to the selection process. It also subtly illustrates the enormous power imbalance in Esther's situation: she's being groomed and adorned like a possession, with no say in her own fate. Yet as the story unfolds, we see God working through these very circumstances to place her in a position where she can ultimately save her people.
