Ephesians 6:5
“Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ;”
What does Ephesians 6:5 mean?
Paul is writing to people in situations of servitude, which were common in the first-century Roman world. He's calling them to approach their work with integrity and respect, not because their masters deserve it, but because they're ultimately serving Christ through their faithfulness. This doesn't mean accepting mistreatment, but rather bringing their whole honest self to their responsibilities, working as though Christ himself were watching. The phrase "singleness of your heart" means doing your work without deception or half-heartedness, not trying to get away with the minimum or serving with resentment simmering underneath.
