What does Ephesians 5:32 mean?

Paul is talking about marriage here, but he's saying that marriage points to something far bigger than just two people committing to each other. He's drawing a connection between the way a husband and wife bond together and the way Christ relates to his church, his people. The "mystery" he mentions is this deep spiritual truth that was hidden for ages but is now revealed: that earthly relationships can reflect divine love. When you understand marriage this way, it becomes less about just romance or compatibility and more about participating in something sacred that mirrors Christ's commitment to his people.
