Ephesians 5:23
“For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body.”
What does Ephesians 5:23 mean?
Paul writes this to help us understand marriage through the lens of Christ's relationship with the church. The comparison isn't about power or control, but about sacrificial love and care, since just a few verses later he tells husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church so much that he gave himself up for her. The "head" imagery points to leadership that serves and protects, the way Christ guides the church toward wholeness and healing.
