Ephesians 2:13
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ.”
What does Ephesians 2:13 mean?
There's deep comfort in this passage for anyone who's felt separated from God or like they didn't belong in faith community. Paul is writing to Gentiles (non-Jewish believers) who were historically excluded from the religious life of Israel, but he's also speaking to anyone who's felt distant from God for any reason: through shame, doubt, or simply being raised outside the faith. The "blood of Christ" isn't about violence, but about Jesus's sacrifice as the way that barrier gets removed. It's the thing that changes everything, making it possible for people who felt like outsiders to actually come close to God and to each other. The shift from "once were far off" to "now made near" is meant to feel like a doorway opening, an invitation across a bridge you thought was permanently burned.
