What does Ecclesiastes 8:6 mean?
Life has rhythms and seasons, and there's a right timing for the things we need to do. Yet the writer of Ecclesiastes is being honest here: even when we understand this truth intellectually, we're often weighted down by real struggles and difficulties that make it hard to act on that wisdom. He's acknowledging that knowing the "how" and "when" of life doesn't automatically lighten the burden we carry. Sometimes we need to do the right thing at the right time while still grieving, hurting, or feeling overwhelmed, and that's a true part of the human experience, not a failure on our part.
