What does Ecclesiastes 3:22 mean?
The writer of Ecclesiastes is reflecting on the limits of human knowledge and control. We can't know the future or what happens after we're gone, so chasing certainty about what comes next is futile. What we *can* do is find meaning and satisfaction in the work we do right now, in this present moment. This isn't cynicism, but rather a kind of grounded wisdom. Instead of being paralyzed by all we can't control or understand, we're invited to take genuine pleasure in our efforts, relationships, and daily contributions. That present contentment, the writer suggests, is really all any of us can claim as our own.
