What does Ecclesiastes 3:11 mean?
There's deep comfort in recognizing that God has arranged things beautifully according to their proper season, rather than all at once or according to our impatient timeline. At the same time, God has planted something eternal within us, a sense that there's more to life than just what we can see and measure, which both sustains us and humbles us because we can't fully grasp how it all fits together. This speaks directly to a tension many of us feel: we know intuitively that our lives matter beyond the temporary, yet we also bump up against the limits of what we're able to understand about God's larger purposes. Rather than seeing this as frustrating, the author suggests it's actually a gift. The fact that we can't reduce everything to our own logic or control keeps us dependent on trust rather than on having all the answers, which paradoxically is where we find peace.
