Ecclesiastes 10:18
“By slothfulness the roof sinks in; and through idleness of the hands the house leaks.”
What does Ecclesiastes 10:18 mean?
A neglected house falls into disrepair, and so does a neglected life. This verse uses the image of a crumbling roof and leaking house to show us what happens when we drift into laziness, failing to maintain what matters to us. Whether it's our relationships, our work, our health, or our spiritual life, things naturally deteriorate when we stop tending to them. The point isn't that you must hustle constantly, but that small, consistent care makes an enormous difference, while persistent neglect has real consequences.
