Deuteronomy 7:18
“you shall not be afraid of them. You shall remember well what Yahweh your God did to Pharaoh, and to all Egypt:”
What does Deuteronomy 7:18 mean?
When you're facing something that intimidates you, this passage invites you to step back and remember what God has already done. The Israelites were about to enter new territory against stronger armies, and God was essentially saying: look back at how I freed you from Egypt, how I broke Pharaoh's power. That same God is with you now. The encouragement here works because memory is a real source of courage. When we recall how we've been sustained through past difficulties, or how God has shown up in ways we couldn't have managed alone, it shifts our perspective on what we're facing today. You're not starting from zero; you're starting from a history with God.
