What does Deuteronomy 7:12 mean?

God is making a promise here about how obedience and blessing work together. When you take his commands seriously and actually live by them, you're positioning yourself to experience the full weight of his commitment to you, not as something you've earned, but as something he pledged long ago to your ancestors. This isn't a transaction where God reluctantly keeps his word only if you perform perfectly, but rather an invitation into the flow of his faithfulness, where listening and doing create space for his covenant care to reach you. Moses is telling the Israelites that their choice to honor God's instruction opens the door to experiencing generations of steadfast love that was promised before they were even born.
