Deuteronomy 6:1
“Now this is the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh your God commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you go over to possess it;”
What does Deuteronomy 6:1 mean?
Moses is gathering the Israelites at a pivotal moment, right before they enter the promised land, and he's reminding them that God's laws aren't arbitrary rules meant to control them. Instead, these teachings are meant to guide how they live once they settle in their new home. The emphasis on "teach" and "do" shows that knowing God's ways and actually living them out are meant to go together, not stay separate. It's a moment of preparation, where Moses is saying, "Here's what matters most as you move forward into this new chapter of your life."
