Deuteronomy 3:22
βYou shall not fear them; for Yahweh your God himself fights for you.ββ
What does Deuteronomy 3:22 mean?
When Moses says this to the Israelites as they face powerful enemies ahead, he's reminding them of something they've already seen: God has consistently fought their battles and won. The point isn't that fighting is unnecessary or that courage doesn't matter, but that their deepest security doesn't depend on military might or their own strength. Fear can paralyze us and make us forget what's actually true about who's on our side. Moses is inviting them to let that reality reshape their confidence as they move forward into uncertain territory.
