Deuteronomy 27:5
“There you shall build an altar to Yahweh your God, an altar of stones. You shall not use any iron tool on them.”
What does Deuteronomy 27:5 mean?
When Israel entered the promised land, God instructed them to build an altar using only uncut stones, without shaping them with iron tools. This wasn't about the tool being forbidden in general, but rather about keeping the altar in its natural, unworked state, reflecting humility before God. The requirement emphasized that God's altar should be made by human hands in their simplest form, not decorated or refined through human skill and effort.
