“It shall be, when you have come in to the land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance, possess it, and dwell in it,”
What does Deuteronomy 26:1 mean?
This verse marks a turning point in Moses' farewell address to Israel. After forty years of wandering in the desert, the people are about to enter Canaan, and Moses is preparing them for settled life in a way they've never experienced before. He's reminding them that this land isn't something they've earned or conquered on their own, but rather a gift from God. The simple command to "possess it, and dwell in it" carries deeper meaning than just occupying space.
