“But if you refrain from making a vow, it shall be no sin in you.”
What does Deuteronomy 23:22 mean?
God is telling us that choosing not to make a promise is completely fine, and there's no shame or wrongdoing in it. The point is simple: you're never obligated to make vows in the first place. What matters is that if you do make a promise, you keep it, but the safer path of simply not promising anything is always available to you and is perfectly acceptable.
