What does Deuteronomy 21:22 mean?
When someone in ancient Israel had committed a capital crime, the execution itself wasn't the end of the process. This verse describes what happened afterward: the body would be displayed publicly on a tree or post as a final statement about the seriousness of the crime and as a deterrent to others. It was part of the legal consequence, meant to show that justice had been carried out completely.
