Deuteronomy 2:37
“Only to the land of the children of Ammon you didn’t come near; all the banks of the river Jabbok, and the cities of the hill country, and wherever Yahweh our God forbade us.”
What does Deuteronomy 2:37 mean?
As the Israelites journeyed toward the Promised Land, God set boundaries around certain territories they were not to enter, and this verse reminds them that they honored those limits. The land of Ammon belonged to descendants of Lot (Abraham's nephew), and God had reserved it for them rather than giving it to Israel, even though the Israelites were militarily capable of taking it.
