Deuteronomy 16:7
“You shall roast and eat it in the place which Yahweh your God chooses. In the morning you shall return to your tents.”
What does Deuteronomy 16:7 mean?
The Passover lamb was meant to be eaten at a single, central location where God's people gathered to worship together, then everyone returned home the next day. This created a rhythm of coming together as a community to remember God's deliverance, then dispersing back to ordinary life carrying that memory with them. The instruction kept Passover from becoming a private family meal and instead made it a shared public act of faith. For us today, it reminds us that worship and remembrance matter most when they draw us together and then send us back out to live differently in the world.
