What does Deuteronomy 11:26 mean?
Moses is offering the people of Israel a stark choice: follow God's commands and experience blessing, or turn away and face the consequences. He's not threatening them out of anger, but laying out the natural results of their decisions, much like a parent explaining that a child who studies will succeed while one who neglects school will struggle. This verse reminds us that we genuinely have agency in our spiritual lives. God isn't forcing anyone into relationship with him, nor is he withholding good things arbitrarily. Instead, he's saying plainly: the path of obedience leads to flourishing, and the path away from him leads to hardship.
