What does Deuteronomy 10:14 mean?

God owns everything, not just the visible world we can see but the entire cosmos in all its vastness. This reminder comes at a moment when Moses is calling the Israelites to renew their covenant with God, and he uses this truth to ground their understanding: if God possesses even the highest heavens and all creation, then their lives and choices matter within that larger reality. The point isn't to make us feel insignificant, but rather to shift our perspective toward what's actually true, so we can stop clinging so desperately to temporary things and remember who we're really answerable to. When life feels out of control or when we're anxious about provision, this verse invites us to trust that everything already belongs to the one who loves us.
