““Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land, which I swore to give to your fathers,”
What does Deuteronomy 1:35 mean?
God is speaking through Moses about a hard reality: the generation of Israelites who saw God's miracles in Egypt but then refused to trust him and enter Canaan won't live to see the promised land themselves. Their lack of faith had real consequences, though it wasn't arbitrary punishment. God kept his promise to Abraham and his descendants, but the adults who actively rejected him would not be the ones to inherit what had been sworn to their ancestors. Their children, however, would enter the land and experience what their parents refused to claim through faith.
