What does Daniel 6:1 mean?
Darius, the Persian king, was organizing his massive empire by appointing 120 regional governors (called satraps) to manage different territories and keep everything running smoothly. This wasn't unusual for ancient kingdoms, which were too large for one person to govern directly, so they relied on trusted officials spread across the land to enforce laws and collect taxes. This setup creates the backdrop for Daniel's rise to prominence and, soon after, the jealousy and conspiracy that will test his faith.
