What does Daniel 5:25 mean?
These mysterious words appeared on the palace wall during King Belshazzar's feast, written by a disembodied hand that terrified everyone present. The prophet Daniel was brought in to interpret them, and he revealed that each word was a judgment: "Mene" meant God had numbered the king's days and brought them to an end, "Tekel" meant he had been weighed and found wanting, and "Upharsin" meant his kingdom would be divided and given to the Medes and Persians. Within hours, Belshazzar was dead and his kingdom had fallen. This passage reminds us that our choices and character matter, and that no amount of earthly power or celebration can shield us from accountability for how we've lived.
