What does Daniel 4:24 mean?

Daniel is delivering news to King Nebuchadnezzar about a troubling dream, and he wants to be absolutely clear about what he's about to say: this isn't his own opinion or guess, but God's direct word. By calling it "the decree of the Most High," Daniel is essentially saying, "This is serious, and it comes from the highest authority." What makes this moment tender is Daniel's care in the phrasing. He calls the king "my lord" and shows respect even as he's about to share something difficult. He's helping Nebuchadnezzar understand that whatever is coming isn't arbitrary or accidental, but part of God's larger purpose. Sometimes we need that reminder too, when life brings us news we didn't expect.
