Daniel 2:10
“The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, “There is not a man on the earth who can show the king’s matter, because no king, lord, or ruler, has asked such a thing of any magician, or enchanter, or Chaldean.”
What does Daniel 2:10 mean?
The king's advisors are essentially saying, "This request is impossible, and nobody has ever even asked for anything like this before." King Nebuchadnezzar has demanded they tell him both his dream and its meaning, without him first telling them what he dreamed—a test designed to prove their supposed supernatural powers. The Chaldeans are being honest here: what he's asking violates the normal rules of how divination works, and no human wisdom or magic can meet this demand. Their frustration points to a deeper truth that will unfold in the chapter: human expertise and power have real limits, and some situations require something beyond what we can figure out on our own.
